چکیده

Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is often followed by significant morbidity and mortality due to protracted immunodeficiency. We have hypothesized that the bone marrow-ablative regimen may delay the recovery of normal immune function following transplantation by impairing the interaction of host endothelial cells with circulating graftderived lymphocytes. This report compares the relative effects of busulfan (an alkylating drug) and gamma-irradiation on the tissue-specific localization potential of lymphocytes and the eventual recovery of immune function within syngeneic murine transplant recipients. Localization of normal lymphocytes into peripheral lymph nodes of irradiated BMT recipients was markedly less (<50%) than in busulfan-treated or normal mice over the first 2 months post-BMT. This finding correlated with irradiation-induced

Evaluation of the Functional Recovery in Sciatic Nerve Injury following the Co-transplantation of Schwann and Bone Marrow Stromal Stem Cells in Rat

Introduction: Transplantation of bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) or Schwann cells (SCs) can increase axonal regeneration in peripheral nerve injuries. Based on our previous investigations, the goal of the present work was to examine the individual and synergistic effects of the two different cell types in sciatic nerve injury . We pursued to evaluate the effects of BMSCs and SCs co-transplant...

Study of Chondrogenic Effects of Chondrocytes Cocultured With Murine Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Purpose: Co-culture systems of marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (mMSCs) with mature chondrocytes have theoretically been considered as a putative way of MSCs chondrogenic differentiation. MSCs differentiated in this system could be used for transplantation purpose without of any need to their purification since the cells with which MSCs are co cultured are native cartilage cells. Despite o...

Mycophenolate mofetil impairs the maturation and function of murine dendritic cells.

The immunosuppressive drug, mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), has been successfully introduced in allogeneic transplantation medicine and, more recently, in the treatment of autoimmune skin disorders. MMF inhibits lymphocyte proliferation via a blockade of the enzyme inosine 5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase, an enzyme on which lymphocytes solely depend to generate the purines necessary for DNA/RNA syn...
